Bachelor
of Business Administration (BBA)
The BBA at REC is a four-year, 120 credit-hour
bachelor-level management curriculum of Pokhara University. The curriculum aims
to provide you with a very strong foundation in mathematics, economics, and
other social sciences during the first two years of the program. It then
broadens your understanding of management concepts and issues and of the
broader environmental context within which businesses operate.
Gradually,
you will learn the key roles and functions of marketing, operations, finance,
and human resource management, and about the interaction and integration of
these functions towards attaining organizational goals.
The
BBA program also offers–through concentration courses–opportunities to deepen
your knowledge and sharpen your skills in your areas of particular interest. It
helps you attain a very sound foundation in a particular field that will
ultimately be instrumental in shaping your further studies and career options.
You
can concentrate in any one of the following areas:
1. Marketing
2. Finance
3. Accounting
4. Human Resource Management
5. Small Business and Entrepreneurship
In
addition to the concentration courses, you are required to complete two more
courses (6 credits) from the list of non-business electives. These elective
courses aim to broaden your knowledge in areas other than business.
The
BBA program not only broadens and deepens your understanding and knowledge of
business, management, and the overall business environment; it also strengthens
your communication, interpersonal, leadership, and IT skills, through various
practical undertakings.
You
are also required to complete an internship program (3 credits) and a Project
Work (3 credits) to be a BBA graduate. The internship program aims to develop
your understanding of how real-life organizations function and it enhances your
skills around applying the concepts and knowledge learned in the classroom in
real-life situations. The project involves fieldwork and the empirical analysis
of data and findings from the field. Students must follow the prescribed
formats to prepare their project reports. Besides this, students also need to
complete a six-to-eight-week internship at a business organization.
CONCENTRATION
The
concentration courses will help you to develop specialized and focused skills
in the areas of your choice. Students are required to select four courses from
the different courses offered by the university.
