Lumbini Province Chief Minister Jokh Bahadur Mahara has said that education without technology cannot be a quality education.


He said this while addressing a national conference on AI-driven skill Enhancement and Emerging Communication Technologies organized by Rapti Engineering College in Ghorahi on Saturday, 8 Ashad 2081.


Lumbini Province Chief Minister Jokh Bahadur Mahara inaugurated the program organized by Silicon Research and Innovation Center Kathmandu, Rapti Engineering College, Ghorahi and Swargadwari Community Studies and Research Academy. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mahara said that in today's world, technology should be used properly to make people's daily work easier. He said that the technology invented by humans can scare humans, adding that the increasing number of suicides in recent times could be the result of the misuse of technology.


Chief Minister Mahara said that though earlier called education for all, but according to the program of quality education for all today, it should move forward, adding that education can become quality only if it is connected with technology. Saying that technology has played a role in spreading knowledge, Chief Minister Mahara said that the government has given high importance to technology. He stressed the need to discuss today how to run the world of tomorrow.


Mahara, who was the chief guest of the event, appealed to all to use AI as an integral part of life in the current context where human work is becoming easier and simpler due to the use of technology. Chief Minister Mahara emphasized that there should be necessary policies and regulations for the state to regulate the use of AI. He also said that the government of Lumbini Province will cooperate in this work.


In the program chaired by Dr. Bhimsen Giri, Managing Director of Rapti Engineering College, discussions were held with working papers from subject experts on the latest developments and new possibilities of AI. Reg Bahadur Bhandari, registrar of Lumbini Technical University, presented the main working paper on AI –driven Skill Enhancement & Emerging Communication Technologies at the conference. He said that AI has become indispensable in life. He also informed that everyone is using AI whether they want or not.


Similarly, Dr. Shailendra Giri, Executive Director of Rapti Engineering College and CEO of Silicon Research and Innovation Center, presented a working paper on skill development and AI as a place of learning. At the same time, Nepal Television Deputy General Manager Engineer Chintamani Baral presented a working paper on the use of AI and quality education using technology.


Similarly, Dr. Chiranjeevi Shah from Northern Gulf Institute, Mississippi State University, USA a postdoctoral research associate, presented a working paper on Use of AI in Higher Level Study. At the same time, Kaviraj Yadav, an engineer of Nepal Telecom, presented a working paper on emerging AI communication technology used for skill up, Dr. Ravi Chandra Koirala, Lecture from the University of the West Scotland, UK presented a working paper on emerging educational technologies used for skill up. Similarly, Hemant Basnet along with subject experts presented working papers in the conference.


The panel discussion was held with Santosh Sharma, head of Nepal Telecom Tulsipur, Sharad Adhikari, member of Press Council Nepal, Yadav Subedi, head of Technical School Lumbini Province, Karan Bahadur Pun, former president of Can Dang, and Naresh Kumar Shrestha, senior vice president of Dang District Industry and Commerce Association. The discussion was facilitated by Dr. Shailendra Giri, Executive Director of Rapti Engineering College and CEO of Silicon Research and Innovation Center.

                                                                                          
The conference, which was attended by students from various colleges, information officers, security agencies, intellectuals, public representatives, media personnel and others said that the revolution in the field of communication and the power of artificial intelligence have the potential to make progress in education, health, public service delivery and economic development. Speakers at the conference made suggestions on how to use AI strategically and make the state more responsible in its development and expansion.


The program was conducted by Bishowbandhu Thapa, the principal of the college, Resham Giri, welcomed and reviewed the subject matter, which was presented by Durgalal KC, the president of the Dang branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists.
